Udupi, December 5, 2025: A 13-year-old schoolboy who had left a boarding hostel in Udupi and was travelling alone was traced in Karwar by the Konkan Railway Head TTE, who ensured he was safely sent back to Udupi.

Missing boy found

On Wednesday, when train No. 12133 Mangaluru Express arrived in Karwar, Head TTE Raghavendra Shetty noticed the boy sitting alone in coach S3. He approached him and asked for details, but the boy failed to answer properly. Shetty then checked the boy’s bag and found a school ID card. He immediately contacted the school authorities, who confirmed that the boy had run away from his hostel. It was also learned that he lives with his mother, who works as a domestic help to support his education.

Shetty then informed the boy’s mother that he was safe. The child was handed over to the Udupi Railway Police, who kept him at the Udupi Child Care Centre until he was safely reunited with his family.

Rs 5,000 Reward:

Appreciating the dedication of Raghavendra Shetty in tracing and safeguarding the child, Konkan Railway CMD Santosh Kumar Jha announced a cash reward of ₹5,000 for him.
