Two people killed in lorry accident near Adyar

Mangalore, Feb 29, 2012  : A lorry carrying blocks of timber turned over and fell into a pool of water by the side of NH75 near Adyar early in the morning of Feb 29 Wednesday, killing two people.

The lorry was on its way from BC Road to Mangalore. Murali, its driver, lost control of the vehicle, owing to which it turned over and fell into the pool near the check post. This happened at around 3:45 a.m.

Murali, who sensed the danger, sprang out of the lorry just in time, owing to which he escaped with minor injuries. Unfortunately, his brother Sudhakar (26) and Rajashekar (29), his brother-in-law, who were unable to jump out, died on the spot. Their bodies have been retrieved and taken to the morgue of Wenlock Hospital.

Murali informed Fahad Mohammed, the manager of the lorry, who rushed to the spot immediately.


A case has been registered at the Kankanady rural police station.
