Two-day Beach Utsav on Malpe Beach concludes gloriously

Udupi, Jan 30, 2012 :  Beach Utsav, the 2-day entertainment event organized on Malpe Beach by the city municipal council of Udupi, came to an end on Jan 29 Sunday.

 

 

beach 1The event comprised sports, food festivals, games, dance shows, and live music, along with drawing competition, sand sculpture, tug of war, swimming, and dog shows and attracted a large number of people, leading to bad traffic blocks.

Kite flying was the major activity on the last day of the event, and the skies were dotted with colorful kites. Team Mangalore, which has participated in an number of kite-flying competitions, exhibited a large number of kites on the occasion.

The major attraction was the food festival, treating people to a wide range of sea food delicacies such as shark chutney, prawn chutney, pomfret fry, anjal fry, bangude fry, boothai fry, kane fry, idli yeti masala, neeru dosa  yeti masala, idli bondas masala, tede mulimunchi, and many others.

Another major attraction of the event was the sand sculpture.

Udupi MLA Raghupathi Bhat, DC Dr. M. T. Reju, Indian Overseas Bank Regional Manager Anil, CMC President Kiran Kumar, Yashpal Suvarna, Mahesh Thakur, and others were present at the valedictory ceremony.

Dr. G. Shanker, the president of the Shyamili Trust and recipient of the Nadoja Award was honored on this occasion.

The event concluded with a music show by Time and Tide.

More than one lakh people are believed to have arrived on Malpe Beach to witness this event.
