Kasargod, Jun 23, 2013: A man from Kannur, a software engineer by profession was arrested at Palakkad on June 22, Saturday on the charges of stealing laptops and other valuables from people travelling in AC coaches of trains. Police have seized as many as 17 laptops, 27 sovereigns of gold, 10 watches, 15 mobile phones, camera and other valuables.
The arrested is P Sajeesh (39) who runs a networking company named Soft Networking Technology in Bangalore. Acting on a tip off, the police arrested him while he was travelling in the Coimbatore-Trissur passenger train.
According to the police, several cases are pending against him in various police stations including Palakkad, Ernakulam and Shornur. He had 22 complaints against him in Palakkad station.
He used to rob passengers of Bangalore-Chennai trains and the thefts were reported in Kannur, Chennai, Yeshwanthpur and Tiruvananthapuram bound trains. After robbing the passengers, he would alight from the train at the next station.
Investigations are in progress.
