Survey work for Mangala Corniche Road project begins Monday

Mangalore, June 17, 2012: B. Nagaraj Shetty, chairman of the Coastal Development Authority (CDA), said that the decision to begin survey work for the Mangala Corniche Ring Road project on Monday was taken at a meeting of the Survey, Settlement, and Land Records Department. 


He told reporters that the department plans to complete the survey work by Dec 2012, and the work will be handed over to Infotech Enterprises Limited. Besides, the Mangalore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) will start preparing the project implementation report simultaneously.

Regarding the construction of a high-tech fish market in three coastal districts, Mr. Shetty said that the CDA has designed 10 high-tech markets, of which work on 8 markets has already begun. He said that the Padubidri Fish Market is nearly complete and will be inaugurated in the first week of August. The other nine markets will be completed in one year, he said, adding that a comprehensive project report will be prepared in 2012 – 13 on the development of high-tech fish markets in Shirva and Kota in Udupi and Karki in Honnavar. 


Regarding that two-lane concrete fishery road proposed by the CDA, the chairman said that the two global surveyors who bagged the tender to do the survey work for the same have submitted their reports, and these reports will soon be submitted to the government. 


He also said that the government has earmarked Rs. 5 crore for the construction of foot bridges, adding that the CDA will submit a memorandum to the union tourism minister to grant Rs. 6 crore for the development of Koti Teertha Lake near Gokarna. He also informed that the state government has earmarked Rs. 10 crore to the CDA for 2012 – 13.
