St. Joseph’s College Jeppu celebrates first anniversary

Mangalore, Mar 13: The first anniversary of St. Joseph College in Jeppu was held on March 12, Saturday. Rev. D. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the bishop of Mangalore Diocese, presided and Mr. Prabhakar Neermarga was the chief guest of the event.

A minute’s silence was observed in honor of the tsunami victims in Japan at the beginning of the programme.

The bishop, in his presidential address, urged all students to work hard and build a harmonious and peaceful society. He also expressed his appreciation of the progress made by the college in just one year. Assuring the college of its support he said all Christian institutions stand for discipline and values.

Expressing his appreciation of the work of the Catholic Board of Education in the area of imparting education, Mr. Prabhakar Neermarga urged parents and teachers to transform their children into men and women of discipline.

The bishop distributed merit certificates to all merit students, and the chief guest handed over the prizes to the winners of various competitions conducted in the college throughout the year. The bishop also felicitated Sunitha D’Souza, the English lecture, who obtained a gold medal in her PG studies. 


 
Rev. Fr. Eric Crasta, the principal of the college, presented the annual report. Sunitha D’Souza delivered the vote of thanks.

A colorful cultural programme marked the end of the event.
