Mangalore, Jun 2, 2012 : St. Aloysius Institutions inaugurated Gonzaga School, its brand new CBSE school, on June 1, Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, Fr. Francis Serrao, provincial for Karnataka, said that CBSE is the need of the hour, owing to which the institution has launched a CBSE school although it has several English and Kannada medium schools. Stating that Kannada medium is no longer significant, he said that parents prefer modern curriculum. Moreover, CBSE syllabus promises more job opportunities and a better future for the students.
He said that the school will train students till the 12th standard both in Kannada and English mediums. He also said that the CBSE school is a private institution while all the others are government aided.
Grace Noronha, principal of Gonzaga School, said that classes have begun for Std 1 to Std V. The children will be taught non academic subjects such as roller skating, karate, Indian dance, Western music, and others. Besides, the school is associated with Lifeway College of New Zealand, and the faculty of Lifeway College will train the teachers on animation on June 2, Saturday, she said.
The school has 8 teachers and 3 other employees. The teachers have been given a one-week orientation program, where they were trained in child-centered teaching and learning.
Fr. Joseph Rodrigues, rector of St. Aloysius Institutions, and Fr. Elvis Lewis, manager of Gonzaga School, were also present. The dignitaries inaugurated the staff room, computer suite, principal’s office, and one of the classrooms.
