BSF Denies Reports of Bangladeshi Murder Suspects Entering India via Meghalaya Border

Mangalore Today News Network

New Delhi, Dec 28, 2025: The Border Security Force (BSF) on Sunday категорically denied claims that two Bangladeshi nationals accused in a murder case had crossed into India through the Haluaghat sector and entered Meghalaya.

Quoting BSF officials, Hindustan Times reported that there was “no evidence whatsoever” of the suspects crossing the international border from the Haluaghat sector into Meghalaya. “No such incident has been detected or reported by the BSF. These claims are baseless and misleading,” HT quoted Upadhayay as saying.

The clarification came in response to statements made by Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Media Centre Additional Commissioner SN Nazrul Islam, who earlier claimed that the accused — Faisal Karim Masud and Alamgir Sheikh — had fled to India after allegedly murdering Osman Hadi.

Addressing a press briefing in Dhaka, Nazrul Islam said the suspects had crossed into India through the Haluaghat border in Mymensingh. “According to our information, the suspects entered India via the Haluaghat border. After crossing, they were initially received by an individual named Purti. Later, a taxi driver named Sami transported them to Tura city in Meghalaya,” The Daily Star quoted him as saying.

The conflicting claims have drawn attention to cross-border security and coordination between Indian and Bangladeshi authorities.
