Mangalore, July 26, 2012 :Sportstar, published by Kasturi and Sons Limited with The Hindu, was re-launched with a brand new look on July 25, Wednesday.

Launched in 1969 as Sport and Pastime, it is the only sports weekly magazine in India that has managed to survive all these years. Having existed in the tabloid form for the past five years, Sportstar is back to the magazine form.

Expressing his views about the sports magazine, Dr. N. S. Channappa Gowda, deputy commissioner of DK, said that it could survive because it has substance and maintains top quality.

Releasing the magazine, the DC said that he started reading Sportstar in 1975 and continued reading it till he could no longer find the time for it. He said that the magazine has excellent news and articles for sportspersons.

Anand Shetty, who won gold and silver medals at several South Asian Federation (SAF) events as well as the Rajyothsava Award in 1991; Viani Antonio D’Cunha, winner of the Ekalavya Award; Royston Pinto, winner of several medals at the Special Olympics held in Athens; and Roshan Ferrao, a reputed bodybuilder and winner of the Mr. Asia Pacific title for 2010, were honored on this occasion.
