Mangalore, Dec 9, 2011 : Shree Vishwavallabha Teertha Swamiji, the seer of Sode Mutt in Udupi, participated in his Poura Sanmana and Abhivandana ceremonies at Town Hall, Mangalore on Thursday.

The swamiji was welcomed with a poornakumba welcome to the accompaniment of chende beats. Prominent citizens of Mangalore such as Pradeep Kumar Kalkura of Kalkura Prathishtan; B. R. Bhat, the chairman of Corporation Bank; Seemanth Kumar Singh, the commissioner of police; Prof. M. B. Puranik, the VHP leader; Raghavendra Shastry of Sharavu Mahaganapathy Temple; Polali Jayaram Bhat, the general manager of Karnataka Bank; Subramanya Rao and Raghavendra Rai, the hoteliers; Sudhakar Rao Pejawar of the DK Brahmin Association; and Prof. Anantha Krishna Bhat were present.

A Veda recital by the students of Sharada Vidyalaya marked the beginning of the event. Pradeep Kumar Kalkura delivered the welcome address.

 

 

 

 

 

In his address, Prof. Anantha Krishna said that the felicitation of swamijis is important because one needs their blessings to reach God. Stating that Vishwavallabha Swamiji has risen to the state of paryaya, he said that he will play an important role in the upcoming Udupi Paryaya.

The swamiji was then felicitated with a shawl, fruits, and a citation.

The swamiji is widely travelled and involved in a number of social welfare projects, including the establishment of schools and colleges in villages. He has also established a technical training institute.
