The incident had taken place on August 2 evening at Ballalbagh when the businessman Vijayendra Bhat was on his way home in his Scorpio vehicle. The bullet fired at him had shattered the car’s panes and Bhat escaped unhurt after he slipped out of his car and rushed inside a nearby hotel.

The arrested have reportedly revealed that they fired at Vijayendra Bhat  at the instructions of underworld don Vicky Shetty. They, it is learnt,  have also stated that Bhat had funded  the killers of Bejai Raja.

Vijayendra Bhat  owns Sudhindra Market near PVS,  a restaurant named Tom and Chilly apart from a flour mill.
