SBI adopts 45 girl students in Mangalore

Mangalore, Feb 14, 2012: State Bank of India (SBI) has adopted 45 girl students in Mangalore and will provide funds for their education under the Community Services Banking Activity.

Under this scheme, SBI will take care of the educational expenses of all these girls right from whichever class they are studying in right now up to II PUC.  Thereafter, depending on their course of further study, they can apply for education loan from SBI.

 

 

Recently, SBI had organized a get-together of all girl students adopted by various branches of SBI in Mangalore.  Smt. Sangeetha Mehra, the wife of Sri Ashwini Mehra, chief general manager, SBI, LHO, Bangalore and Mrs. Jayanthi, the wife of Sri Krishna Kumar Trivedi, general manager, SBI, LHO, Bangalore were the chief guests of this occasion. Mrs. Mamatha Udupa, the wife of Sri B G Sadashiva, AGM, SBI, Mangalore Main Branch and president of SBI Ladies Club, Mangalore unit presided.  The members and office bearers of SBI Ladies Club, Mangalore unit were assigned the role of mentors for each of adopted girls.

Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Sangeetha Mehra advised the adopted girls to study well in their respective academic classes and to get a good name to their parents and the school.  If they do so, the Bank will also get the satisfaction of grooming the young girls into responsible citizens of the country and that there will justice for the amount of money the bank will spend for their education. 

In sweet memories of the event, the bank gave mementos to each of its adopted girl children.

Mrs. Grace Lobo welcomed the participants and Mrs. Gita Kishore proposed the vote of thanks.  A colorful cultural program by the adopted girl children marked the end of the event.
