Red alert: Schools in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi to remain closed on Friday

Mangaluru, July 25, 2025: The Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district administrations have declared a holiday for schools and PU colleges on Friday given the red alert. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for Dakshina Kannada and Udupi following the forecast of extremely heavy rain with gusty winds.

Apart from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts, the IMD has issued a red alert for Uttara Kannada district also, till July 26. The IMD has issued an orange alert for the three coastal districts with a forecast of very heavy rains from July 27 till 8.30 a.m. on July 30.
