It is believed that the rash driving was the cause for the accident. The route number bus 53, which was running between State Bank and Surathkal moved about erratically and damaged an auto and 4 two wheelers. It also injured four people inside the vehicles, including a lady. Out of four one person is seriously injured. The injured have been admitted to nearest hospital for the treatment.

The eyewitnesses in the bus revealed that the bus moved in a rash manner at high speed from Lady Goshen in the night and did not stop at the Hampanakatta bus stand. Then it directly headed towards parked vehicles and other vehicles on the road. It first hit an auto rickshaw which was parked by the road side and dashed four other two wheelers and one car severely damaging them and injuring the people inside the vehicles.  Soon after the accident the driver and conductor abandoned the bus and fled into the city. The damage done had been estimated at Rs. 6 lakhs.

A case has been registered against the bus driver by the traffic police personnel in this regard.
