Cockfight

The raid took place on Tuesday evening when Uppinangady police sub-inspector Suthesh KP and his team were on patrol near Manikkala. After hearing the distinctive sounds of roosters, the police rushed to the location and found that an illegal cockfight was being organized by the roadside.

As the police moved in, a large crowd present at the spot managed to flee. However, the officers were able to apprehend three suspects.

Police seized five roosters used in the fight, two sets of sharp blades (baalu), and ₹2,300 in cash believed to have been used for betting. Two plastic bags and a motorcycle found at the scene were also taken into custody.

During preliminary questioning, the arrested men said the event had been organized by individuals identified as Deranna and Umesh. Police have registered a case against the organisers and participants and are continuing their investigation.
