Mangaluru: Man sentenced to life imprisonment and fine in Mulki murder case

Mangaluru, Mar 6, 2026: The Second Additional District Court has sentenced Murugan, the accused in a murder case reported under the Mulki Police Station limits, to life imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 10,000. The verdict was delivered by Judge Jagadish V.N.

According to the case, on March 19, 2022, at around 9:45 pm, Murugan allegedly murdered Harish Salyan (47) of Ullanje in Mulki Pete of Bappanadu village by repeatedly hitting him with a laterite stone over a financial dispute. A case was registered at the Mulki Police Station following the incident.

The investigation was carried out by Circle Inspector Kusumadhar, who filed the charge sheet before the court. Sub-Inspector Sanjeev assisted in the investigation. Public Prosecutor Jyothi Pramod Nayak represented the government in the case.
