Porn-watching MLAs have wrecked state reputation – Poojary

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Feb 9, 2012: B. Janardhan Poojary, the former union minister, said that CM D. V. Sadananda Gowda wrecked the reputation of this state when he defended the three ministers caught watching porn clips during assembly.

Addressing reporters at a press conference held at Press Club on Feb 8 Thursday, Poojary said that the CM’s support of such behavior proves that he is unfit to continue as the chief minister of Karnataka.

Flaying the Spring Zouk Island Festival 2012 held on St. Mary’s Island, he said that the CM had also defended the consumption of drugs and semi-nude dances held at the venue. He only ordered a probe into the matter when the public and the media protested against it.

Further, he said that around 900 foreign tourists and over 6000 local people and police officers were present at the venue, but the DC of Udupi had supported the event and the CM took no action against it. He also said that the DC organized this event without taking the permission of the Gram Panchayath.

Once again speaking about the MLAs caught watching porn in assembly, he said that this shows that the CM has no moral values. Instead of moving a resolution to throw the MLAs out of the assembly, he adjourned the assembly and conducted a meeting of the BJP MLAs. He did not even give Siddharamaiah, the opposition leader, a chance to speak, he added.

Although the speaker was urging the MLAs to maintain silence, the BJP MLAs continued shouting. Questioning the need to investigate the matter, as ordered by the speaker, Poojary said that the ministers were caught watching porn clips on media cameras and had already resigned, owing to which there is no need to investigate the matter further.

He also demanded that the speaker must be charged for covering the issue and not sending the 3 MLAs out when they were caught watching porn. When the ministers have clearly pleaded guilty, there was no need to give them time till March 12, he added.

Congress leaders such as Harikrishna Bantwal, Vijay Kumar Shetty, Arun Coelho, and Kallige Tharanath Shetty were also present.
