Poojary flays CM for transferring honest police officers

Mangalore Today News Network

janardhan poojaryMangalore, Jan 3, 2012: Janardhan Poojary, the senior Congress leader and former union minister, accused CM D. V. S. Sadananda Gowda of transferring honest, efficient police officers and demanded his resignation if he cannot put an end to atrocities against certain communities in Karnataka.

Further, he said that two police constables of Kadaba Police Station, SP Labhu Ram, and the circle inspector and sub inspector of Sullia Police Stations have been transferred just because they did their duty during the stone pelting incident in Sullia. Criticizing the DGP of inefficiency, he demanded to know if the DGP is supposed to save his own chair or protect his police officials.

Poojary further stated that activists of an organization who do not permit the police to do their duties should be booked, but taking action against police officers who were doing their duty is unheard of.

Continuing his tirade against the CM, he said that the CM had transferred ADGP Jeevan Kumar Goankar as soon as he assumed power to disrupt the smooth flow of investigation into the corruption charges levelled against BJP leaders. Now the CM is transferring police officers to please the Sangh Parivar, he alleged.

Congress leaders Arun Coelho, Vijayakumar Shetty, and Kallige Tharanath Shetty were also present.
