Mangaluru, Dec 8, 2024: A young woman has accused two men of rape, blackmail and theft in an incident that occurred on August 1 in Mangaluru. The police have registered a case and issued a lookout notice for the suspects, identified as brothers Mohammed Shafeen and Mohammed Shiab.

Mohammed Shafeen and Mohammed Shiab

According to the complaint, the woman, who lived alone in an apartment in Kodialbail, sought Shafeen’s help to repair her refrigerator. Shafeen, who had previously assisted her when her car broke down on July 21, brought a mechanic to fix the fridge and later offered her fruit and juice. The woman claimed she lost consciousness after consuming the juice.

When she regained consciousness, Shafeen allegedly informed her that he had sexually assaulted her, recorded a video and threatened to make it public if she did not comply with his demands. The woman also accused Shafeen of stealing her car and Rs.62,000 in cash during this period.

Shafeen reportedly fled the country soon after the incident and his brother Shiab is also implicated in the case. Both suspects are currently absconding and efforts are underway to trace their whereabouts.

The victim managed to escape and lodged a complaint with the police, who have launched an investigation. Authorities have urged anyone with information about the accused to come forward.
