Addressing the gathering, Shashi Kumar said, "Kabaddi is an indigenous sport. It is all about strength, skill and strategy. Participating in sports will help students develop their personalities along with their studies. Kabaddi will help you understand how to lead a team, manage stress, and become defensive and offensive, which will be a big lesson in your life. You can succeed in life by applying the same principles."

The Guest of Honour, Dr. Gerald Santhosh D’Souza, emphasised the coordination of mind and body, which can be learned through sports. "Kabaddi involves fitness, recreation, and psychological intervention. It improves management skills," he observed.
