Udupi, Nov 28, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, participating in the Laksha Kanta Gita Parayana at Udupi Sri Krishna Math, urged citizens to take nine resolutions aimed at strengthening the nation’s present and future. He said these pledges would help fulfil India’s goals for Amrit Kaal by 2047.
Modi listed the nine resolutions: conserving water; planting trees—especially in the name of one’s mother; uplifting at least one poor person; adopting Swadeshi and promoting ‘Vocal for Local’; practising natural farming; embracing a healthy lifestyle by reducing oil intake and including millets in meals; adopting yoga; supporting the preservation of manuscripts; and visiting at least 25 sacred pilgrimage centres in India.
Speaking in Kannada, he greeted the gathering with “Namaskara” and “Jai Shri Krishna”. He also asked SPG personnel to collect photographs brought by people in the crowd, instructing them to write their addresses so he could send them congratulatory letters.
Recalling Udupi as the karmabhoomi that showcased the governance models of the Jan Sangh and BJP, he remembered leaders like V S Acharya. Modi congratulated Paryaya Puttige Math seer Sugunendra Teertha Swamiji for organising the Laksha Kanta Gita Parayana, calling it a Sanatana cultural campaign that connects the younger generation with the Bhagavad Gita.
He noted his presence in Ayodhya on November 25 for the installation of the dharma dhwaja atop the Ram Mandir, saying devotees from Ayodhya to Udupi are experiencing joy after a long struggle.
Describing Udupi, founded by Jagadguru Madhvacharya, as a sacred centre for Vedic learning, devotion and service through the tradition of Anna Prasada, he highlighted the contributions of the Dasa tradition and Kanakadasa. He said the Bhagavad Gita’s message of universal welfare—Sarvajana Sukhaaya, Sarvajana Hitaaya—aligns with the principle of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas. Referring to Operation Sindhoora, he said protecting dharma also involves ending evil: “Our Sudarshana Chakra is aimed at those who act against the nation.”
After visiting Krishna Math, Modi arrived at the assembly hall where he recited the concluding verses of the 18th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita. Union minister Pralhad Joshi, Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot, minister Byrathi Suresh, MPs Kota Srinivas Poojary and Raghavendra, and BJP state president B Y Vijayendra were present. Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari and Rajya Sabha member Veerendra Heggade welcomed him.
At the event, Modi was conferred the title ‘Bharata Bhagya Vidhata’ by Paryaya Puttige Math seer Sugunendra Teertha Swamiji, who also urged the Prime Minister to develop an “Udupi Corridor” on the lines of the Kashi Corridor.
The programme concluded with the collective recitation of the final verses of the Bhagavad Gita’s 18th chapter.
