Novelty must for growth of Yakshagana : ML Samaga

Mangalore, Mar 16, 2013: Prof. ML Samaga, President of the Yakshagana Bayalata Academy said mere cynical words will not help Yakshagana while novelty is a must for the growth of the rich art of the Kanara region.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Tenkutittu Yakshagana Himmela Mummela Anusandhana programme organised as part of a series of programme in connection with the Kuriya Vittal Shastri birth centenary celebrations at Town Hall on March 16, Saturday. The function was held under the aegis of Kalkura Foundation, Kuriya Vittal Shastri Memorial Charitable Trust and Yakshagana Bayalata Academy.

S Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, President of District Kannada Sahitya Parishat presided over the function. Kumble Sunder Rao, former President of the Academy, KM Raghava Nambiar, scholar, GK Bhat Seraje and Seraje Seetaram Bhat were among others present on the occasion.
