He provided detailed updates on water levels in various reservoirs. In Thumbay, there is currently 5.48 meters of water, nearing its maximum capacity of 6 meters. At the AMR dam, water levels stand at 17.63 meters out of a capacity of 18.9 meters. Downstream at the Harekala dam, 1.95 meters of water are available out of a maximum capacity of 2 meters, while in Biliyoor, there are 4 meters of water. Presently, 50% of the water allocation is designated for industrial usage, with no provision for agricultural purposes.

Also, he outlined contingency plans, stating that if the water level in Thumbay drops to 5 meters, it will be replenished from the AMR dam. Similarly, should the water level at the AMR dam decrease to 16 meters, refilling will occur from the Harekala dam.

Acknowledging localized challenges, Muhilan noted that urban areas such as Ullal, Kotekar, and Someshwar are experiencing water shortages, necessitating water distribution via tanker.

Additionally, five gram panchayats—Konaje, Balepuni, Narimogaru, Manjanady, and Pajiru—are facing similar shortages in rural areas.

In light of these circumstances, he appealed to the public to conserve water and collaborate with the district administration. While striving to avoid rationing, he emphasized that achieving this objective hinges on the community’s cooperation and support.
