The team comprised four men and a woman, who visited a house in Addahole in Shiradi at 7:30 p.m. on July 18, Wednesday. The owner of the house said that the Naxals visited them and requested food. They stayed in the house for two hours, had food, and charged their laptops. They also borrowed rice, onions, and sugar from the owner of the house before leaving.

On Thursday, the same team visited another house in the village to collect rice and groceries.

Alok Kumar, inspector general of police (ANF), said that the Naxals appear to have changed their camping spot when they heard that the ANF was combing the area.

A Naxal team reportedly visited houses in the villages of Kabbinale on June 16. When the ANF and the police department began combing the areas of Belthangady, the Naxals appear to have fled to Karkala. Ever since they murdered Idu Sadashiva Gowda in Kabbinale, the Naxals had steered clear from the place till June 16.

Sources say that the Naxal team comprised 4 men and 2 women. Reportedly, they were led by Vikram Gowda, a Naxal leader from Kodlu.
