NICO Students Discuss Political Situation During "Model Emergency Meeting"

Mangalore, June 4, 2025: Appraisal of the current situation on Indo-Pak borders, Preparedness of Indian Armed Forces, Accusations of Government’s lack of transparency, our strengthened foreign relations, assurance of protection of Indian Sovereignty and many other issues were the highlight of the "Model Emergency Meeting" presented by the Political Science students of Nitte Institute of Communication (NICO) at its Conference Hall recently.

Assuming the roles of key functionaries of the Government, the students showcased their presentation skills following thorough research on the issues and concerns faced by India in the aftermath of Pahalgaum Terror Attack and Operation Sindoor. The functionaries present at the meeting which was chaired by the Speaker of Lok Sabha, included Prime Ministers, four Union Ministers, Opposition Leaders of both houses of Parliament, National Security Advisor and the three Chiefs of the Indian Armed Forces.

The hour-long presentation portrayed the perspective of the media studies students regarding the political situation and politics of the country in the present context.

The presentation was intended to create better understanding of the political system at work and model procedures our law makers or people representatives should adhere to during situations that challenge national Security and Sovereignty, opined Srinivasan Nandagopal, Professor of Political Science at NICO. "We need to move beyond academics and syllabus and make students aware of ground realities to think critically on issues that matter", he remarked.

NICO has always emphasized on practical exposure to students so as to make them industry fit in whichever areas they choose as careers. Apart from strong Syllabus-based foundation, we provide maximum outbound exposure to groom our students and this approach has truly yielded results in terms of the placements of each of them in diverse fields,  Head of Nitte Institute of Communication Dr. Satya Prasad stated.

The Emergency Meeting was presided over by Miriam Moras as the Speaker of Lok Sabha, Kishley Kumar was the Prime Minister, the three Ministers were Kushi Shetty, Hainaz and Joel, the three Chiefs of Defense Forces were Aditya Pinto, Muneeb and Mufeed, Hafizath Fara assumed the role of National Security Advisor while Ridha Fathima and Zoya Bhaderia outshined as Leaders of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha.
