Udupi: Two arrested for cattle theft in Atradi

Udupi, July 31, 2025: In a swift operation, the Hiriyadka police arrested two individuals involved in cattle theft at Pareek in Atradi village and seized the stolen cattle along with a pickup vehicle.

Based on a tip-off received by PSI (Investigation) Vittal Malvadkar, a police team rushed to Shivagundi in Pareek, Atradi village, around 12:00 noon on July 30. The team found cattle being inhumanely loaded into a pickup vehicle for transport to a slaughterhouse.


Cattle theft


The arrested have been identified as Mehboob Saheb (65) of Moodubettu village in Kaup taluk and Padmanabha (57) of Kukke Subramanya, Sullia taluk, Dakshina Kannada district.

The police seized the pickup vehicle bearing registration number KA 07 5094, valued at around Rs 6 lakh, along with a cow and a calf worth approximately Rs 6,000. A case has been registered at the Hiriyadka Police Station.

The operation was carried out under the guidance of Udupi SP Hariram Shankar and Additional SP Sudhakar. Udupi Sub-Division DySP Prabhu D.T., Circle Inspector Gopikrishna, PSI (Law and Order) Puneet Kumar B.E., PSI (Investigation) Vittal Malvadkar, and the Hiriyadka police staff were part of the team.
