Udupi: Right-wing leader attacked by two miscreants in Malpe; five arrested

Udupi, March 4, 2026: A leader of a right-wing outfit, Manju Kola, was allegedly attacked by two unidentified miscreants in Malpe on Tuesday night.

Manju Kola, a prominent member of Hindu Yuva Sene and other right-wing organisations, is the husband of Lakshmi Manju Kola, former vice-president of the Udupi City Municipal Council (CMC).

The incident occurred while he was mediating a compromise in a dispute involving a couple. During the discussion, two individuals reportedly attacked him with a knife.

He was admitted to a private hospital in Udupi and is said to be out of danger.

Udupi Superintendent of Police Hariram Shankar said that five accused have been arrested in connection with the case. “The incident occurred over a personal matter. The victim is out of danger. There is no communal angle involved,” he said.
