Mangaluru, Mar 4, 2026: An Iftar harmony meet and community feast will be organised on March 7 under the leadership of MLC Ivan D’Souza, former corporator J. Nagendra Kumar said.
Addressing a press conference at the Mangaluru Press Club, Nagendra Kumar stated that as part of the celebrations promoting communal harmony among people of all faiths — which have been consistently organised for the past ten years under D’Souza’s leadership — the 11th annual Ramzan Iftar harmony gathering will be held this year.
He said that D’Souza has been spreading the message of unity in society by celebrating festivals such as Deepavali, Christmas and Ramzan together with people of all religions in the city. Continuing this tradition, the Iftar harmony meet and religious gathering will take place on Saturday (March 7) at 5.00 pm at Palemar Garden near Morgan’s Gate in Jeppu.
The programme will be attended by several dignitaries, including Sri Sri Mohandas Paramahamsa Swamiji of Sridham Manil, Janab Riyaz Faizi Kakkinje, religious leader of Kudroli Juma Masjid, Rev. Fr J.B. Saldanha, PRO of the Mangaluru Catholic Diocese, Vice-Chancellor of Mangalore University Prof. P.L. Dharma, and former minister J. Krishna Palemar, among others.
Separate arrangements have been made for Muslim brethren to offer namaz at the time of breaking the fast. A community meal will be provided to all attendees, and the committee has completed all preparations to ensure the success of the event, Nagendra Kumar added.
