Mangaluru, Sep 22, 2022: The National Investigation Agency sleuths who raided the offices and residence s of several PFI leaders in the city and its outskirts on September 22, Thursday morning, have taken four persons into custody. They have also reportedly seized the mobile phones of all the family members of the houses which were raided. NIA officials also raided and examined documents in the PFI and SDPI offices.
The raids took place at around 3.3- am at Kankanady, Haleyangady, Jokatte and Kavoor simultaneously. It is learnt, the raids took place in connection with the murder of BJP Yuva Morcha Member Praveen Nettaru.
Kavoor resident and PFI leader Nawaz, Bajpe Jokatte’s A K Ashraf, Haleyangady’s Moidin and Kankanady resident Ashraf’s houses have been raided. If Nawaz, Ashraf and Moidin have been taken into custody, Ashraf who is in Delhi has been detained there.
The NIA sleuths have also raided the residence of PFI leader Moidin’s mother.
Reacting to the raids, SDPI District President Aboobakker Kulai said the NIA officials have raided the offices without providing any suitable reason.
