Mulki, Nov 23, 2013 : The absence of a Police Control Room (PCR ) vehicle in Mulki police station since the past few months has proved a great hindrance to the police personnel in patrolling the town and rushing to any place of untoward incident.

Though a PCR vehicle was sanctioned to Mulki station after the Mangalore Police Commissionerate was formed and it did serve the town much to the satisfaction of the residents, the vehicle has remained in the garage since June after it met with an accident while providing escort during the Home Minister’s visit.
As the Mangalore Police Commissionerate does not have additional vehicles, the Mulki station is waiting for the repair of the badly damaged PCR vehicle. Presently, the Mulki police are using the vehicle of the SI for patrolling purposes.
The condition of this vehicle is also not worth mentioning with it landing in the garage on several occasions. Many a time, the cops were in for trouble whenever the vehicle developed technical snag half way through. Though the official vehicle of the Mulki inspector is in good condition and is used most of the time, the station is left without a vehicle whenever the two vehicles leave for Mangalore on official duty.
With a number of crime cases reported from Mulki area and the increasing accidents on the National Highway, there is an urgent need for the Mangalore Police Commissionerate to provide a PCR vehicle to Mulki. Though the Mulki inspector has already made an appeal to Mangalore Police Commissioner Manish Kharbikar in this regard, so far there has been no effort to fulfill the demand.
