Moodbidri: Woman electrocuted in the backyard of her house

Moodbidri, May 28, 2025: A woman lost her life due to electrocution after she accidentally stepped into a snapped live wire in the backyard of her house at Bangarugudde in Iruvail village of Moodbidri taluk on Wednesday morning.
The deceased is Lily D’Souza (64). This morning as soon as she got up, she opened the rear door and stepped out and unknowingly stepped on to the live wire and died on the spot. Her son came rushing on hearing her screams, but of no avail.
It is learnt that Lily had informed the MESCOM office the previous day of seeing sparks in the electric cable passing in the backyard of her house. Locals are alleging that negligence by MESCOM authorities has led to this tragedy.
