Mangalore, June 5, 2012: Monsoon arrived in Mangalore as predicted and doused the unbearable summer heat on Monday, June 4, 2012. The weather forecast by IMD has come true with the heavy rain lashing in coastal districts on Monday late afternoon.
It has indeed brought down the unbearable temperature and at the same time it has caused inconveniences to all especially the school children.
Roads and drains overflowed making movement difficult in the city. The sudden rain in the late afternoon caused traffic commotion, particularly by two wheelers and auto-rickshaws. All of a sudden city roads turned to be water channel carrying filth and dirt. Everyone was caught by the surprise arrival of the much awaited monsoon. Umbrella and raincoat selling shops made brisk business.
The meteorological department had predicted rains in most parts of the coast and hinterlands on June 4 or 5th. The coastal regions registered between four to seven cms of rain. Though predicted almost everyone was caught by the sudden strike of the much awaited monsoon.
