Mangalore, Dec.6 : Milagres Church is celebrating 100 years since its re-construction in the year 1911.

 

Under the dynamic leadership of Fr Walter D’Mello, the parish has planned several events throughout 2010-2011 to celebrate the centenary of the Milagres Church, the pride of Mangalore Diocese with the theme, ‘Come, let us build families’.
The centenary celebrations of Milagres Church will commence on January 10, Sunday, at 9:15 a.m. with a solemn festive mass by Bishop of Mangalore Diocese Fr. Dr. Aloysius P D’Souza. After the mass, about 100 people will donate their blood to mark the beginning of the year-long celebrations.

On January 24, 2010, a district level inter-parish sports day will be held at Mangala Stadium. This event will be inaugurated by Frank Fernandes of Mosaco Shipping, Dubai. The chief guest of the valedictory function will be  Fr. Dr. Aloysius D’Souza.

The centenary committee comprises Marcel Monteiro, Dionysius D’Sa, Gerald Pinto, Ronald Pinto, Alwyn Rosario and Fr. D’Mello.
