Manipal: BJP leader’s son caught with minor girl in lodge; POCSO case registered

Udupi, Nov 8, 2025: A BJP leader’s son was caught with a minor girl at a lodge in Manipal, leading to the registration of a POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) case at the Udupi Women’s Police Station.
The accused, identified as Sreeshanth Poojary (20), a resident of Katapady-Manipur, has been arrested by the police and produced before the court on Thursday. The court has remanded him to judicial custody.
According to reports, the accused, son of a local BJP leader, allegedly took the minor girl to a Manipal lodge after promising to marry her. Acting on a tip-off, the girl’s parents, along with the police, raided the lodge and caught him. It is also alleged that he had provided a fake Aadhaar card for the girl while booking the room.
In a separate complaint, another girl has also accused Sreeshanth Poojary of sexually assaulting her under similar circumstances, after misleading her with a false promise of marriage.
