Mangaluru, December 18, 2025: Police have recovered a total of four mobile phones from inside the Mangaluru District Jail during an operation conducted following a clash between two groups of inmates, police said.

According to officials, when Jail Superintendent Sharanabasappa conducted a surprise inspection on Monday, undertrial prisoners obstructed him from performing his duties. Another surprise inspection was carried out later the same day. In the evening, inmates allegedly created a ruckus by shouting loudly and attempting to damage the iron gates separating two sections of the jail.
