Mangaluru, August 20, 2023: After being on the run for more than eighteen months, evading charges across multiple cases, a man has been apprehended by the City Crime Branch (CCB) law enforcement on Saturday.
The individual taken into custody is Mohammed Rafiq, known as Mudipu Rafiq (36), residing in Mudipu. Rafiq was captured in Hoskote, Bengaluru, and subsequently transported to the women’s police station.

Rafiq is linked to a range of cases, including a theft case registered at the Mulky police station, an attempted murder case at the Barke police station, a POCSO case at the women’s police station, a planned dacoity case at the east police station, a kidnapping case at the Konaje police station, as well as theft cases at the Bantwal city police station, and in the police stations of Manjeshwar, Kannur, and Talashery in Kerala.
The operation was orchestrated by CCB’s ACP P A Hegde, assisted by police inspector Shyam Sundar, PSI’s Sudeep M V and Sharanappa Bhandary, alongside other personnel.
