Sindh May ‘Return to India’ as Borders Can Change: Rajnath Singh

New Delhi, Nov 23, 2025: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Friday said that although Sindh is not part of India today, “borders can change” and the region may one day “return home” to the country. He was speaking at an event where he highlighted the civilisational links between India and the Sindh region, which became part of Pakistan after the 1947 Partition.

Singh noted that the Sindhi community, especially leaders of the older generation such as LK Advani, had never fully accepted the separation of Sindh from India. “Advani ji wrote in one of his books that Sindhi Hindus of his generation still haven’t accepted the separation of Sindh,” he said.

The Defence Minister also underscored the cultural reverence for the Indus River across communities. “Hindus across India consider the Indus sacred. Many Muslims in Sindh too believed the waters of the Indus were as sacred as the Aab-e-Zamzam of Mecca,” he said, quoting Advani.

“Civilisationally, Sindh will always remain a part of India. And as far as land is concerned, borders can change. Who knows, tomorrow Sindh may return to India again,” Singh remarked, adding that Sindhis who hold the Indus River sacred “will always be our own.”

Singh also referred to India’s external matters during an interaction with the Indian community in Morocco on September 22, where he expressed confidence that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) would rejoin India without any aggressive action. “PoK will be ours on its own. You must have heard the slogans being raised there,” he said, claiming that locals in PoK were demanding freedom from “occupiers.”

He further recalled comments by experts during India’s Operation Sindoor against terror infrastructure, who had suggested that India should have advanced into PoK to reclaim territory that rightfully belongs to the country.
