Mangaluru, July 25, 2025: Vehicular movement has resumed smoothly on the Kuloor Bridge, located on National Highway 66 between the KIOCL junction and the Kuloor arch bridge. Traffic in this stretch had been severely disrupted due to ongoing road repair works.
On the evening of July 22, the area witnessed heavy traffic congestion for the first time, and on July 23, vehicles were lined up throughout the day along the Kottara–Panambur route. Police reportedly struggled to manage the traffic flow effectively.
On Wednesday, repair work was carried out on the joint road near the old Kuloor arch bridge, and the stretch has now been widened. To ensure proper curing, concrete layers have been applied at the edges and barricades installed, requiring vehicles to move slowly in this section.
Interlocking tiles have been laid on the approach roads on both sides of the bridge. However, several potholes still remain on the bridge deck. According to highway authority sources, resurfacing of the bridge will be taken up only after the monsoon ends.
