Mangaluru: Fake passport racket busted; woman sent abroad using forged identity documents

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, May 15, 2026: Police have uncovered a fake passport and fraud racket in which forged documents were allegedly used to obtain a passport under another person’s identity.

The CCB police have registered a criminal case against several individuals, including Ullal residents Preetha D’Souza, Prem D’Souza and Yashodha Keshav, under serious charges and intensified the investigation.

Passport

Police had received confidential information that a woman had travelled abroad using a passport issued in the name of Yashodha Keshav. Acting on the tip-off, the CCB launched an investigation and uncovered shocking details. During verification, police found that while the passport carried the name and address of Yashodha Keshav, the photograph used in the document belonged to Preetha D’Souza.

Investigators suspect that the entire conspiracy was hatched to illegally send Preetha D’Souza to Israel. The alleged mastermind, a resident of Ullal, is said to have played a key role in preparing forged documents. Using Yashodha’s educational certificates, address proof and other official records, the accused allegedly obtained a passport in Preetha D’Souza’s name and misled the authorities.

Police further revealed that Preetha D’Souza had allegedly travelled abroad illegally through Mumbai airport on March 17, 2020, using the fake passport.

A case has been registered at the CCB police station and further investigation is underway.
