Mangaluru, May 12, 2026: A bag containing gold jewellery worth around ₹25 lakh, which was accidentally left behind in an auto rickshaw by passengers, was safely returned to its owner thanks to the honesty of the auto driver and the prompt action of the Mangaluru East (Kadri) police.

Mrs Lolita, a resident of Mallikatte, along with her family members, had travelled in an auto rickshaw from Mallikatte to Mary Hill. During the journey, they accidentally forgot their vanity bag containing gold ornaments in the auto while getting down.

Valuable return

After realising that the bag was missing, the worried family immediately informed the Mangaluru East Police Station.

Acting swiftly on the complaint, the police successfully traced the auto rickshaw. The auto driver, Roshan, also displayed honesty and cooperated with the police as soon as he found the bag.

The bag, containing jewellery worth ₹25 lakh, was later handed over to Lolita in the presence of the Sub-Inspector of Mangaluru East Police Station. The quick response of the police and the honesty shown by driver Roshan have been widely appreciated by the public.
