Mangalore: Tingale Vikramarjuna Hegde is new Chairman of Coastal Development Authority

Mangalore, Dec 30,2012: Tingale Vikramarjuna Hegde, General Secretary of the Udupi district unit of the BJP has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Coastal Development Authority.

The post was lying vacant consequent upon the resignation of Nagaraj Shetty who later defected to the JD(S). Hegde will take charge on December 31, Monday.

The Coastal Development Authority was in fact formed by the BJP Government just to accommodate Shetty who had defeated Congress leader Ramanatha Rai from the Bantwal constituency in the previous Assembly election. However, the Government had neglected the Authority by not providing it an office. It had also failed in  appointing  members of the Authority.

Though Shetty had resigned once in June 2011, he was persuaded to continue by the then CM Yeddyurappa.  However,  earlier this year, Shetty finally decided to call it quits and joined the JDS).
