Mangalore: Ordination ceremony of eleven deacons held

Mangalore, Dec 28,2012: :  The ordination ceremony of  eleven deacons as priests, was held at Loyola Hall of St Aloysius PU College on December 27, Thursday.

Bishop of Mangalore Rev. Dr Aloysius Paul D’Souza, the main celebrant, ordained  the Deacons  during the Eucharistic Mass.

The deacons who were ordained priests are Fr Francis Fernandes, Fr Jerald D’Souza, Fr Alphonse Fernandes, Fr Maxim Dias, Fr Kiran Coath, Fr Jerry Melwyn Pais, Fr Alwyn Rodrigues, Fr Vinod Fernandes, Fr Michael Fernandes, Fr Harry Martis and Fr Santosh Vas.

In his homily the Bishop said  the newly ordained priests have the onerous responsibility of  preaching the word of God. He also urged them to work towards the upliftment of the underprivileged sections of the society.

Among others present on the occasion were Fr Joseph Rodrigues, Superior of St Aloysius Institutions, Fr Francis Serrao, Provincial of Jesuits in Karnataka,  Fr Francis  D Almeida, Fr Sweebert D’Silva, Principal of St Aloysius College, Fr Stany Miranda, Fr Mark Castelino,  Fr Rony Prabhu, Fr Ravi Santosh Kamath and Fr Jochim Fernandes.

The family members and near and dear ones of the deacons who were ordained priests, were also present.
