Man Sets Brother on Fire in Shocking Attack on Railway Track Near Kadaba

Kadaba, June 8, 2025: In a shocking incident near Koriyar in Kodimbal, a man allegedly attempted to kill his brother by dousing him with petrol and setting him on fire on a railway track. The victim, Hanumappa, suffered severe burn injuries and is undergoing treatment at a Mangaluru hospital.

The accused, Ningappa, was detained by the Kadaba police. Both brothers, hailing from Gadag, were working in Puttur and had traveled with their sister on a passenger train earlier in the day. After disembarking at Bajakare station, Ningappa reportedly led Hanumappa to a spot 500 meters away, where he carried out the attack.

Local residents, alerted by the victim’s screams, rushed to his aid and alerted authorities. The case may be handed over to Railway police as the attack occurred on railway property.

The motive remains unclear, and investigations are ongoing.
