Mangalore, Oct 3, 2012 : Two MIT students died in a bike accident in front of Hotel Ayan near Shiribidu Udupi on Oct 2. Their motorcycle dashed into a road divider.

The deceased are Nishanth Yadav (21) of New Delhi and Sulatha Kamath (22) of Mangalore. Nishanth was a III year MIT student while Sulatha was an old student.

The bike dashed against the divider with such force that Nishanth died on the spot and a critically injured Sulatha died on the way to the hospital.

The two were returning from Malpe late on the night of Oct 1. Nishanth, who was riding the bike, was under the influence of alcohol. He lost control over the vehicle in front of Hotel Ayan and dashed into the divider. Both were thrown off the bike. Nishanth’s head hit the divider and he died on the spot and Sulatha died on the way to the hospital.

According to SP Boralingaiah, Nishanth was a third year engineering student. Although Sulatha had completed her engineering course, she had to re-appear for the exams in Manipal.

The Udupi Town police have registered the case.
