Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, June 6, 2012: The Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) on June 6, Wednesday conducted a raid on Empire Mall and shut down 6 shops because they were being run without proper trade licenses. The civic body also issued a license to the food court to maintain cleanliness.

The MCC team then inspected Prestige Hotel, which belongs to actor Sunil Shetty, and warned the management to ventilate the kitchen properly and keep it clean.

Dr. Harish, the commissioner of MCC, led the MCC raid team, which comprised Manjunath R. Shetty, the environmental engineer, along with Bharath Kumar, Sushanth, Santhosh, Karunakar, Nirmala, Basavaraj, Baba Mallanna, Poovappa, and Yashwanth, who are all health inspectors.

Reportedly, several traders escaped having to pay fines although the MCC team found them running their business without proper trade licenses. Reliable sources say that, although the MCC cracked down on the illegal slaughter house in Kudroli and closed down the place, it began functioning as usual again and those running the slaughter house got back all the sheep for just Rs. 2000.

Reportedly, no action is being taken on errant traders although MCC officers are doing their job by exposing them.
