Mangaluru, May 2, 2025: In light of the murder of rowdy-sheeter Suhas Shetty, the Dakshina Kannada District Commissioner Mullai Muhilan M.P. has ordered the closure of all liquor shops across the district from May 2 until 6 AM on May 3, to maintain public peace and order.

DC

Suhas Shetty, the victim, was a resident of the Punjalakatte area in Bantwal taluk. Following the incident, the situation across the Dakshina Kannada district is reportedly tense and volatile. To prevent potential law and order disturbances that may arise if anti-social elements consume intoxicants and cause trouble, the District Commissioner—who is also the District Magistrate—issued this directive based on a recommendation from the Superintendent of Police.

As per the order, all liquor outlets in Bantwal, Belthangady, Puttur, Kadaba, and Sullia taluks are to remain closed, and the sale of all types of intoxicants is strictly prohibited.
