Kundapur, September 4, 2025: Kundapur police have arrested six people, including a woman, for allegedly assaulting a man, extorting money through digital transfers, and looting cash and an ATM card.
The case came to light after Sandeep Kumar lodged a complaint stating that he was lured to Kundapur by one of the accused, Asma, on September 2. At her residence near RR Plaza, the group, led by Abdul Savad alias Achchu, allegedly tied him up, assaulted him, and threatened him with a knife.
The gang reportedly forced Kumar to hand over Rs 6,200 in cash, transfer Rs 35,000 via Google Pay, and surrender his ATM card and PIN, with which they withdrew another Rs 40,000. He was released later that night after being threatened with dire consequences if he approached the police.
Acting on the complaint, a team led by PSIs Nanjanayak (Crime & Security) and Pushpa (Investigation), under the guidance of Udupi SP Hariram Shankar, arrested the accused in Koteshwar village.
