Kukke Subrahmanya Temple tops the list of highest revenue earning shrines

Mangalore, May 29, 2013 : Kukke Sri Subrahmanya Tempe, one of the most important pilgrim shrines of the district, has  emerged as the richest among the temples  under the Mujrai Department of the Government.

The Temple has earned a record revenue of Rs 66.76 crore during the last financial year, say figures released by the office of the Commissioner of the Religious Endowment Department.

 Second in the list of highest revenue earning temples is the Male Mahadeshwara Temple in Chamarajanagar district with a revenue of Rs 31 crores,  followed by Kollur Sri Mookambika Temple with an estimated revenue of Rs 20 crore.

As far as Kukke Sri Subrahmanya Temple is concerned, the Temple has seen a significant rise in is revenue over the years.  The temple  earned Rs 24.3 crores in 2007-2008 and the revenue increased to Rs 35.75 crores and Rs 44.82 crores in the subsequent years. 

The revenue during the 2011-12 reached a record high of Rs 56.24 crores, while this time it stands at Rs 66.76 crores.

Several eminent politicians, crickets and film stars have been visiting the temple throughout the year to offer various Sevas prominently Sarpa Samskara, Ashlesha Bali and Naga Prathishte.
