Koragappa Nayak elected as DK ZP president

Mangalore, Oct 3, 2012: K. Koragappa Nayak was elected as the president of the DK Zilla Panchayat in a formal election procedure on Oct 3, Wednesday. M. V. Jayanthi, returning officer and Mysore regional commissioner, conducted the election. 

Sathish Kampa proposed K. Koragappa Nayak for the post of president and Keshava Gowda proposed Rithesh Shetty for the post of vice president. Since they were the only people to file nominations, they were elected president and vice president without any opposition.

In his address, Mr. Nayak said that K. T. Shailaja Bhat, the former president, and Dhanalakshmi Janardhan, the vice president, had contributed a lot to the ZP and that he would continue along the same lines. He also requested all the members of the ZP to cooperate with him and make sure that the ZP functions smoothly and implements all schemes. 

Referring to the previous term as an ideal term, he said that he will try working with the same enthusiasm as that shown by K. T. Shailaja Bhat. He also promised that he will do everything in his power to work for the development of the district. 

Ms. Bhat and Ms. Janardhan congratulated the newly elected president and vice president of the ZP. M. S. Mohammed of the opposition also congratulated them and said that the opposition will cooperate with them in the best interests of the district. 

MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLC Monappa Bhandary, District BJP President Padmanabha Kottary, ZP CEO Dr. K. N. Vijayprakash, and others were also present.
