In his presidential address, Jayanth Kaikini, noted poet, author, and scriptwriter in Kannada, said that holding a multilingual poets’ meet is a great idea as each poet has a lot to share with other poets. A poet forms a link between people and emotions, he added.
Expressing his appreciation for DK, which is a hub of education, banking, and healthcare, he expressed regrets that it is today becoming notorious for communal riots, rape, and murder.
Poets Manohar Prasad, Dr. Vaman Nandavar, Katyaini Kunjibettu, Raghu Idkidhu, B. A. Mohammed, Shakuntala R. Kini, Hameed P. S., and others presented their poems at this event.
Kasargod Chinna, president of the state Konkani academy, delivered the welcome address; Registrar B. Devdas Pai proposed the vote of thanks; and Mahesh R. Nayak was the MC.
